Wye Switches. Here is the second of three successive time exposures that I took at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 18 September 1965. Implied here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7031, #7176-B, and #7187-B. All are EFS-17M's road switchers built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7031 was built in November of 1955, but #7176-B and #7187-B were built in November of 1957. They're pulling an 84-car mixed-cargo freight train from Altoona up the New Portage Branch line via the Muleshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Duncansville's 2nd Avenue is at the right. Note the illuminated dwarf signal. |
